D:POT RECORDING ARTS @ PRATO – ITALIA

D:POT RECORDING ARTS: THE STUDIO WHERE THE ITALIAN ROCK BAND LITFIBA PRODUCED EUTÒPIA

It seldom happens but when it does it’s wonderful 🙂 we found ourselves again, for the second time, designingbuildingequipping and wiring Simoncia’s (aka Fabrizio Simoncioni) new studio.

His previous, The Garage, in Arezzo, goes back only a couple of years and was finalist in Resolution’s contest “Best Studio”Simoncia called us in again this year for his new project, ambitious and beautiful: the making of il D:PoT Recording Arts. A studio with two control rooms sharing a large, high live room, to be made inside an industrial complex in Prato, Florence’s Chinatown. We appointed Donato Masci for the design and construction‘s been carried out from A to Z by our team. We built the shell inside Simoncia’s depot, designed and installed all systems(HVAC, AV wiring, power, lights) and, four-hands with our SMAP division supplied all of the equipment.

Control Room A‘s been treated to look Ranch-like and has outstanding acoustics.

It’s equipped with an SSL SL4064G custom, 64 channels, a pair of main monitors Genelec 1025A triamp, sunk into a concrete bafflenearfield monitoring a pair of Genelec 8351A with 7072A subwoofer + a pair of mini monitor Pelonis System 42 + subwoofer Pelonis LN. It all runs on an Avid Pro Tools DAW, v12.6 HDX MADI,  ADA by 2 * ANTELOPE ORION 32.

And all of the outboard and plug-ins one may dream of 🙂

Control Room B it’s engineered to mix “In The Box” + allow more budget-friendly recordings 🙂 it’s equipped with a Slate Digital RAVEN MTi2 touchscreen 27” console, a Pro Tools Native system v12.6 and Universal Audio Apollo 8 black quadNoblesse oblige 🙂

The recording room has a respectable height of almost 6 meters and has been treated accordigly, has great recording flexibility yet maintaining a dry and linear acoustic profile. Which makes it good for any kind of production. The essence of wood chosen, mahogany, makes it warm and balanced.

Just has it happens usually with Simoncia, we barely had time for final touch-ups for productions stepped in wildly 🙂 the first one to be made in D:PoT is wow: Litfiba’s new album, Eutòpia. Marco Romanelli assisted!

While Eutòpia was in mastering in NYC (Sterling!), the studio was working on the new Pan del Diavolo production – a promising Italian band!

We are happy and proud to be part of the success of this new beauty.
